AMERICAN RED CROSS     

American Red Cross has an immediate need for  Volunteers to assist with the shelter opened for those fleeing Hurricane Gustav. Volunteers must have Red Cross Training. Training will be held on Wednesday, September 3, from 2-6 PM at the local Red Cross office located at 234 Main Street, LaGrange, GA.

Red Cross is looking for volunteers to help by answering the phone, making follow-up phone calls and other general office work.

They are also looking for people interested in becoming Disaster volunteers, they would need to attend some classes and learn how to respond in case of a disaster. For more information contact Connie Hensler at 706.884.5818

CHILDREN'S ADVOCACY CENTER OF TROUP COUNTY
Looking for volunteers willing to work in the family visitation center. They will supervise court sanctioned visits between children in foster care and their visiting families. Volunteers must be 21 or older. GOOD SHEPHERD PROGRAMS
Anyone interested can volunteer as sidewalkers, horse leaders, barn help, maintenance and special events.

HARMONY HOUSE (DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SHELTER)
We are looking for general volunteers.  Those interested should be willing to do various jobs such as dealing with donations and assisting the residents.  For more information on training dates, contact Michele Bedingfield at 706.885.1525.

LAGRANGE PERSONAL AID ASSOCIATION
We are looking for volunteers willing to bag groceries and sort canned goods for the food closet. For more information, contact Barbara Hand at 706.882.9291.

LITERACY VOLUNTEERS TROUP COUNTY

MAIDEE SMITH MEMORIAL DAYCARE CENTER
Looking for volunteers who are interested in reading stories to and sitting with children.
